Former NFL tight end Christian Fauria was suspended from his radio gig on WEEI in Boston for feigning an Asian accent to mock Don Yee, the agent of Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo.
“We do not support or condone Christian’s comments, and we have suspended him for five days effective immediately.”
Fauria, who played for the Seahawks for seven seasons, the Patriots for four and the Redskins and Panthers for one each, expressed regret that’s typical in situations like this.
“Earlier today I made a horrible attempt at humor. In a segment during the show, I impersonated agent Don Yee in an insensitive and regrettable way,” Fauria tweeted. “I want to publicly apologize to Don and anyone in the audience who heard it.
“I have also reached out to Don directly to personally apologize,” he continued. “I have been disciplined by WEEI management and I fully support their decision.”
It’s been a tough couple of weeks for WEEI.
Friday’s incident follows Brady’s decision to forgo his weekly interview on the station because on-air personality Alex Reimer made fun of the quarterback’s five-year old daughter.
The show ended with one of Timberlake’s biggest hits to date, “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” and streamers coming down from the rafters.
Naturally, Twitter voiced its opinion of the show, and the reactions varied from excitement to boredom.
What if Parcells hadn’t bolted New England after losing Super Bowl 31? How many Super Bowls could the Pats have won with him and Belichick in tow?
What if Belichick hadn’t famously resigned as the Jets’ head coach after one day in 2000? Would the sad-sack Jets — not the Patriots — have become the terror of the NFL? The Jets somehow managed to hire him twice as head coach, without him ever coaching a single game.
And what if the proud Giants had promoted Belichick to succeed Parcells as the Big Blue head coach in 1991, instead of the bumbling Ray Handley (who vanished into obscurity two seasons later)? The Giants now have the unenvious distinction of letting Belichick, Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry leave as Nike NFL Jerseys From China assistants without NHL Jerseys Wholesale giving them a shot at head coach.
